This 2 Day Adventure
to the Home of Uganda’s Gorillas- Bwindi Impenetrable NP/ Mgahinga Gorilla NP
will take you along unwinding beautifully lined Hills to the North of Rwanda,
across the Border and into the South West of Uganda. The perfect Trip for
Guests in Rwanda looking to visit the Gorillas of Uganda. With a visit to the
Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Diane Fossey Museum and Campus recently
constructed and donated by popular American Show Host and Philanthropist Ellen
DeGeneres and Partner Portia or a more Rwandaful and cultural insight into the
Community life neighboring the Gorillas at the Ibyiwacu Cultural Centre also
known as the Gorilla Guardian’s Village on Day 1, you will have a 360 insight
into the overall Gorilla Conservation story in the Virunga Massif before
heading to your Lodge for Dinner and Rest.
Next Day, your Guide will
drive you to the Park Office for Check in and Briefing. Here, you are assigned
a Gorilla Family to Track for the Day and a complimentary hot cup of Coffee,
before embarking into the Park for the Trekk these elusive Gentle Giants. Your
track will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes
and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorillas’ current location. Your
guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests
and chewed bamboo shoots. Once the gorillas have been located, you will be allowed a maximum of
one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a humbling
and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get
up close and personal with Uganda’s own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.
Note:
Ritz safaris purchases the permits in advance but is unable to reserve a
specific gorilla group as it is for the Park Authorities to decide this!
Your Trip will starts from the Airport where your English Speaking Guide will meet you, Brief you before driving you to your Hotel in Kigali to rest after which you will be picked up in the morning by 9am after Breakfast. Your Guide will brief you about the Trip ahead after which you will head to the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a 1st hand sneak peek into the History that has shaped modern Rwanda starting with the 1994 Rwanda Genocide against the Tutsi Ethnic Group. You will thereafter proceed to drive to the north of Rwanda Musanze where you will have Lunch before heading to visit the Diane Fossey Museum & Campus. While there, you will learn about the amazing Gorilla Conservation story in the Virunga Ranges spearheaded by the iconic Diane Fossey. You will then head to the Cyanika Border Post where your Guide will assist you through the simple Border crossing legalities. You will then cross into Uganda and drive to your Lodge for the evening and Night Rest in preparation for Gorilla Trekking the next Day.
You will have early Breakfast at around 6am then proceed to drive to the Park Reception Offices for Briefing. You will then be assigned a Group and Gorilla family to Trekk for the day after which you will be driven to your starting Point and enter into the Jungle in search of the elusive Gentle Giants. The Trekk takes between 2-6 hours depending on where the Family is feeding from for the Day. Gorilla Trekking by far is still every Traveller’s Dream Experience and caps off what must always be an amazing African Safari Experience. After a successful Gorilla Trekking Experience, we will then head for Lunch then drive back to Kigali where you will check in at your Hotel, freshen up and rest for a while. Our Guide will then pick you up at your Hotel then you will head to the Airport for your flight back home marking what will have been a memorable experience with us.
