The park spans over 2000 square kilometers and is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, deep valleys, jagged peaks, and unique biodiversity.
After an early open-air breakfast, you'll start your day with a 2-hour hike to Jinbar Waterfall. The trail leads through the rugged terrain and offers more scenic views of the Simien Mountains. You'll spend some time at the waterfall and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. After you visit the waterfall, you'll return to the road and take a drive for about 30 minutes. Then, you'll hike for 4-5 hours or drive to Cheneck, a well-known area for spotting wildlife and enjoying panoramic vistas. Upon arrival at Cheneck, you will set out on a short hike to spot the endemic Walia ibex (a wild goat species found only in the Simien Mountains), along with other wildlife like the Gelada baboons and possibly even Ethiopian wolves. In the late afternoon, you'll set up camp at Cheneck at an altitude of 3500 meters, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
You'll start the day with an early morning hike to Buhawit Peak, one of the highest and most scenic spots in the Simien Mountains, at an elevation of 4150 meters. The hike will take approximately 5 hours to reach the peak, offering incredible views of the surrounding cliffs, valleys, and peaks, including Ras Dashen, the highest peak in the Simien Mountains. After enjoying the views and taking some photos, you will make your way back down and drive back to Gondar Airport for your flight to Addis Ababa.
